Committees

Take a look at what we do in ASB! Many of our different committees are in charge of organizing a lot of school events, participating in school administrative meetings, and building school spirit within the student body.

Governing Board
We meet to discuss all updates and reports to the Board as well as all committee reports such as Curriculum and Instruction, Student Services, and Operations. School updates are presented to the Board in which all school related topics are presented and discussed.

Student Services
We represent the entire student body in school administrative meetings with subject departments, facility representatives, and administrators to discuss important issues regarding student life on campus. One of our goals is to propose new student policies that enrich student access to education such as chromebook and library usage. Therefore, we aim to provide new opportunities for students.

Curriculum and Instruction
We deal with all things relating with the logistics and rules relating to teacher student instructions. Either by introducing new classes, student college visits, and after hours activities. The goal of the committee is to provide reasonable and more than enough support for all people the school deals with.

Operations
We handle all physical aspects of Granada’s campus. All construction, remodeling, and bell schedules are passed by the Operations committee first. Maintenance of Granada’s facilities and changes for easier accessibility are made through Operations in hopes of making Granada a student friendly campus.

Homecoming Dance
We plan the homecoming dance. If you are a part of this committee then you are most likely to work on the following: candy for the candy table, getting tablecloths, designing centerpieces, making centerpieces, working on decorations to have around the gates. We also work with event planners to arrange the dance and get everything ready for the big day.

Homecoming Parade
We work together with the ASB advisor, administrators, outside-of-school contacts, and with each other to organize the Homecoming Parade, which happens on the night of the Homecoming football game. One interesting fact about this committee is that we work with the clubs and organizations on campus. This way, the whole school is participating, whether it's through designing a banner, walking in the parade, or being at the bleachers cheering for your club. We use skills such as communication and organization to successfully pull this wonderful night off.

Homecoming Pep Rally
We plan and oversee the Homecoming Pep Rally, the biggest lunchtime event of the year. It's up to us to find performers and activities that'll raise the school's spirit and to kick off Homecoming weekend.

Homecoming Tickets
We design the homecoming tickets, prepare the homecoming contracts, and ensure the tickets come to the student store as soon as possible for students to buy them. The goal of the committee is to create a ticket that will commemorate the night, along with produce what the school needs for the homecoming dance to happen (head-count of guests, contracts).

Spirit Week
Spirit week is a fun way to show pride and unite the school before the homecoming game. Our goal is to build “hype” the entire week, leading up the the big and memorable homecoming game and dance at the end of the week. As a committee, we plan spirit days, “dress-up days”, with a theme for each day of the week. Our most recent spirit days for Spirit Week 2015 were Pajama day, squad day, Worldwide wednesday, Color Wars, and Jungle Day. For each day, we also plan fun activities during to make it an unforgettable high school experience for everyone!

Public Relations/Community Outreach
Our goal is to close the gap between ASB and the student body, to ensure the students know who their representatives and what they are doing. It’s important to keep communication in order for the student body to know what the student want and who to go to.

Public Relations

Mend (Meet Each Need with Dignity)
MEND is yearly event where cans and other nonperishable foods are collected in order to help those in need. We organize and coordinate the event so it runs smoothly and the most can be given to those in need. We contact MEND the organization once we’ve collected all the cans in order to send them by the holiday season.

Club Council
We are in charge of interviewing, passing, and regulating all clubs on campus. This is important because through clubs, Granada students have the opportunity to become active members in their local communities, leading them to create global change. Clubs are meant to  foster the interests of the students, so Club Council has a huge responsibility in making sure all clubs are diverse and are able to represent any and all things students might be passionate about. We strive to provide every student on campus with the opportunity to pursue their passion and feel comfortable with others in their community.

Club Council

Supply
We are in charge of making sure that all the other committees have the supplies to carry out their plans. We order necessities to finish certain projects. We especially aid in any kind of publicity, and order supplies when running low. These can include posters, markers, scissors, banner paper, etc.

ASB Supply

Fundraising
We are in charge of setting up fundraisers in order to financially support the ASB Class and its activities. We set up any fundraisers both in school and outside school campus. Therefore, we especially cooperate with outside venues and businesses in order to help raise money for the ASB class itself.

ASB Fundraising

PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association)
We have two ASB representatives for PTSA. We both attend the PTSA meetings, Every second Tuesday of the month. We are the student representatives which means that we give feedback on what the student body has been up to and in case they need a student's opinion on something, we are there to help them.

Commissioner of Academics
We recognize academic teams that have achieved victories in competitions. We encourage academic excellence and award students for their hard work. Each semester we award a team with a plaque and announce their achievement during a pep rally or lunch activity.

Commissioner of Athletics
Our job is to put our vote for who we believe deserves to be athlete of the month. After voting is over, we help recognize the athletes that have stood out by congratulating them on stage at a  friday activity/pep rally.

Video Technology
We are in charge of filming, editing, and making the scripts for all the videos that advertise ASB events.

Video Technology

Booster Club
ASB works with Granada's booster club for a lot of our activities at the school, so our committee is in charge of attending the booster club meetings once a month. We give a report of what we are currently working on in ASB, and keep them updated on our work.

Friday Activities
We are in charge of planning either pep rallies or Friday lunch activities for the student body! Whether it is to hype up a home game or reach out for talent in the school to showcase, our goal is to create more school spirit in an exciting environment. Furthermore, ASB hopes to connect and interact with the student body through Friday Activities!

Our goal is to choose the best student leaders who have the potential to lead their class and more importantly the school. We evaluate our applicants based on their dedication for service, passion for school spirit, and quest to develop leadership.
