Head Coach — Dana Fukagawa

Hi everyone! My name is Dana Fukagawa and I am the new Dance Teacher at Granada Hills Charter High School. I grew up in Thousand Oaks, California, but have called Sherman Oaks my home for the last 12 years. I have a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from Cal State Northridge along with a Masters degree in Education and Teaching credential from Pepperdine University. In 2014, I received my 200 hour yoga teacher training certification in Bali and hope to continue my training in the future. I have also been coaching the dance team at Thousand Oaks High School for over 11 years now and I am excited to bring my experience to GHCHS.

In addition to pursuing higher education, I have also had a career in the dance industry as a cho-reographer and dancer. Some credits include: So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars, Fresh Beat Band, Shake it Up, Wizards of Waverly Place, LXD, Teen Beach 2, Lala Land, and the Kylie Minogue’s Les Folies Tour.

In my free time, I really enjoy watching movies/TV shows, hiking, taking yoga, and traveling. My latest TV find is Stranger Things. I am very excited to start my first year teaching at GHCHS and I hope to bring my love of dance to my students. Excited for a wonderful year ahead!
