Honors/AP English Announcement

The recommendation process for Honors and AP English classes ended April 3. Students who did not receive a recommendation but wish to enroll in Honors or AP English classes will need to complete a waiver. English 9 teachers may sign waivers for Honors or AP classes in English and social studies. English 10-11 teachers may sign waivers for English classes only. Here are the steps:

  1. Complete this form: https://goo.gl/forms/aAXb1qtHLRXj8ICd2
  2. Come to B5 to pick up a paper copy of the waiver from Mr. Arnold. Waivers will be available ONLY in B5 and ONLY during lunch beginning Tuesday, April 18 and will be accepted through Thursday, May 25. After May 25, no further waivers will be considered.
  3. Students need to take the paper waiver and
  1. meet with their English teacher to discuss the reasons why they were not recommended. There is space on the back of the form for students to record this conversation and to list out the steps they will take to be ready for a more demanding class.
  2. get their teacher's signature on the waiver. This signature acknowledges that the conversation took place. It is not a recommendation.
  3. discuss the waiver with their parents and have parents sign.
  4. return the waiver to B5.

Students must complete the online form and the paper copy by May 25. No exceptions.

Note from the Health Office
Students, remember that you MUST have a pass to come to the Health Office even if it is during passing period. A signed planner, a note from the teacher or a hall pass will be accepted. The ONLY times you can come to the Health Office without a pass are before school, nutrition, lunch or after school. Students coming without a pass will be sent to A5.

Volunteer/Service Hours
Students, are you interested in volunteer or service hours? If so, stop by the AHA office inside the library to sign-up as a peer tutor. This is a great opportunity to meet and mentor other students.

After Hours Tutoring
Tutoring is offered mornings and afternoons in the library as well as several locations on campus. Stop by the AHA office located inside the library to pick up the newest tutoring schedule or check the "Tutoring Schedule" links throughout the website.

Tips on Staying Healthy Throughout the School Year
Hand washing is the easiest way to prevent infections. If soap and running water is not available use a hand sanitizer. Keep cuts and scrapes clean and covered with a bandage until healed. Don't share personal items. Be sure to cover your coughs and sneezes - use your elbow - not your hand!

Team Tryouts
Tryouts and other Athletic information are posted on this website. Look under "Athletics" on the top navigation bar of this website.
